GHS golfer picks up second state title



TWO-TIME CHAMPION: : Bree Wanderscheid came from three strokes down to win her second 1A State golf title. The Goldendale junior would have a second place medal to go with her two golds, but she tied for the position in her freshman year and she was never given the medal.

Bree Wanderscheid had to work a little harder for her second State 1A golf championship. After the first round of the tournament, last week in Spanaway, the Goldendale junior found herself in unfamiliar territory—second place. She was three strokes behind Madisen Bentley, of Life Christian Academy with a first round 74.

According to her coach, Ted Wilkins, “Bree struggled all day, having to make long putts.” Wanderscheid agrees. “I didn’t play good the first day. I couldn’t get the ball close to the hole and was always 20 yards from the pin,” says Wanderscheid. She attributes it to nerves, but she isn’t one to get rattled.
