John Albert Lawrence



John Albert Lawrence, 45, went to be with the Creator May 10, 2013. He was born July 1, 1967 to Lorraine Shike and Gale Lawrence Sr.

John was an enrolled member of the Yakama Nation and also knew of his Nez Perce family.

John grew up in Goldendale and was active in all sports. Baseball was his favorite in high school. He played in basketball and softball tournaments throughout the state of Washington. John was a gentle man and loved and cared for his family, especially his kids, Jonah Lawrence of Vancouver Wash., Jedd and Jenneeva Lawrence of Goldendale Wash. John’s smile, laugh and great sense of humor will be greatly missed. The memory of John will live forever. He was a great brother, a brother to all; a true friend (genuine), an awesome uncle (one of a kind) and a super awesome dad.

John has two sisters, Roberta Norris of Goldendale Wash. and Katheryn Schwartz Lawrence of Goldendale; brothers, Victor Wilson of Wapato Wash., Nathan Shike of Billings Mont., Emmette Washines of Wapato, Daniel Lawrence of Warm Springs, Ore .; sisters Valorie, Stacey and Snyder all of Warm Springs, and many numerous nieces, nephews, aunts, uncles and friends; and that one special lady, Emilee S. that stood by his side and cared for him and loved him.

He is preceded in death by mother Lorrain Shike, father Gale Lawrence, brother Fred Lawrence, brother Gale Lawrence Jr., wife Jennifer Amidon Lawrence, son Jude Lawrence, and sister Agnes Lawrence.

John was taken to Lyle Longhouse for overnight services on May 13, 2013. On May 14, 2013, He was then taken to Husum Cemetery where he was buried at sunrise.

In lieu of gifts, the family is asking for prayers for his children and to always remember John’s strengths and not his struggles.
