Third Festival win for Switzer at Maryhill Loops

THREE TIME CHAMP: An ecstatic and exhausted Patrick Switzer was swarmed at the conclusion of the championship race as temperatures soared well above 100 degrees.

Patrick Switzer fought his way through a strong entry at the Festival of Wheels, International Downhill Federation (IDF) World Cup race at Maryhill Loops to win his second open class championship in a row, third since the cup races began at Maryhill in 2007.

Switzer seemed to emerge from the ranks of the forgotten, as a lot of people thought James Kelly or Kevin Reimers might have the best odds of winning and as the heat races cut the field in half each time, former winner, Zak Maytum looked like the man to beat.
