Fires spring up, quickly put out

WHERE THERE’S SMOKE...: A number of fires arose over the past several days around the county. Heavy black smoke rises about a mile up from Lyle on Centerville Highway Monday.

Calls went out for fire suppression on seven different fires over the last several days in Klickitat County.

Most fires were small and quickly contained. One of the the largest was near Lyle Monday, shown in the top picture above. A fire consuming a quarter acre on Pipeline Road in Goldendale was put out Monday.

Authorities remind residents that we are in peak fire season presently and to use extreme caution.
