Bank gets exterior renovation

BUILDING FACELIFT: Branch manager Anthony Pereira stands in front of the Columbia Bank building on Main Street. The building is getting long-needed renovations.

Columbia Bank’s Goldendale branch is in the midst of receiving a makeover that is described as “long past due,” by branch manager Anthony Pereira. Construction crews begin tearing into the 45 year old building earlier this month, on July 11. This week, the old brown fascia has all been demolished and a ring of fresh particle board encircles the roof line, awaiting the installation of new Hardiplank materiel. About all that remains of the bank’s previous adornments is the chipped and faded coat of light pinkish-tan paint, and its days are numbered as well.

Gone is the large tree that once crowded the front entryway, gone are the shrubs and bushes that had outlived their initially...
