Neighbors help after combines, truck and cart go up in flames


While the Mile Marker 28 fire captured all the attention this past week, another fire came and went without much notice, but the damage done was significant.

A pair of combines, a truck and grain cart were all destroyed south of Goldendale near the top of the Maryhill grade, just off Highway 97. Paul Gregg says he was nearly finished harvesting a wheat field when one of two combines caught fire. His wife, Thelma says she was taking a break from the Rodeo Bible Camp when she saw a puff of smoke in the direction of the farm and thought, “Oh, no, fire.” She saw a second puff and then nothing.
