State changes white sturgeon retention date

Retention of white sturgeon in The Dalles pool of the Columbia River (area between The Dalles Dam and John Day Dam) has been extended beyond the scheduled July 31 closure date, according to the Washington State Department of Fish and Wildlife.

Legal sized white sturgeon can be retained until further notice. The daily limit is one fish with fork length of 43-54 inches. The reason for the change is that only a third of the recreational harvest goal has been reached.
