Fire season in Northwest consuming 181 square miles

As widely anticipated, the wildfire season of 2013 in the West is turning out to be a very active season.

In the Pacific Northwest alone, more than 116,000 acres have been or are presently ablaze this year, with evacuations under way and in some areas with more than 400 homes threatened. Firefighters from every part of the country have been engaged in fire suppression throughout the area during the intense summer fire season.
