Family, 4-H, and a can-do attitude help a dream come true

“When you have a child born with Down syndrome, doctors tell you all the things they can’t do,” says Diane Nilson, mother of Melody and Mariah Nilson. Her daughter Melody was born with Down syndrome and has all of the difficulties that come with it, but she says that’s just what they are—difficulties. Rather than being intimidated, they worked that much harder to achieve their goals, and Melody’s goal is to show her horse at the Klickitat County Fair. Melody is proof that no challenge is insurmountable.
