Young Lady Pirates come off break ready to play

ENGAGED: Even during practice, there was intensity and engagement in the eyes of Bickleton’s players. The Lady Pirates return two seniors, including Annie Lindsley, front. Hali O’Banion, left and Kira Harvey await their turn.

The Bickleton Pirates lost some senior leadership and one of their big hitters, but they appear to be on track to building a team which will be competitive in the Greater Columbia Gorge League for the next few years.

“I was pleasantly surprised,” said coach Katie Leuthauser. “It is a strong group of girls.”

It is also a group that is evenly spread across five classes. There are two seniors retuning to the squad, Annie Lindsley and Sydnie O’Banion. Two juniors, three sophomores, a pair of ninth graders and three eighth graders round out the squad.

If there is anything missing, it is outside height to complement their big hitter, Lindsey Brown. There are plenty of mid-range player...
