Collision on SR 14 kills two, injures one

Two cars collided head-on this morning on SR 14.

A two-car crash at about 9:30 a.m. Wednesday two miles east of Wishram on SR 14 has taken the lives of two people and injured a third.

A 2005 Subaru Outback was headed east on SR 14 when the vehicle veered off the road to the right. The driver overcorrected and sent the car into the westbound lane, where it hit an oncoming 1994 Chrysler LeBarron head-on.

Killed at the scene were Shirley Merritt, 77, of White Salmon and a 63-year-old male whose name has not yet been released pending notification of next of kin. Injured was a passenger, Robert Ross, 30, of White Salmon.
