Richland youth winner of 2nd GoldenMan Triathlon

WINNING MOMENT: Porter Whiters, of Richland, crosses the finish line with the best time in the GoldenMan Triathlon. Whiters is a distance swimmer and middle school cross country runner.

Thirteen adult individuals and six teams competed in the second annual GoldenMan Triathlon in Goldendale, Saturday. In addition, five people competed in the duathlon and there were 20 participants from age five to 14 in the youth division of triathlon and duathlon.

The overall winner, competing as an adult was 14 year old Porter Whiters, of Richland. Whiters finished the course in 1 hour, 30 minutes and 16 seconds. Top competitor in the women’s division was Elizabeth Shepard, of Yakima in a time of 1:35.41.

First place in the team division went to Travis Gray (swim), Carl Vogt (bike), and Randall Jones (run) with best overall time of 1:16.51.
