Timberwolves win league opener 26-14 at Highland

Goldendale’s football team got off the schneid, as they say, winning their first game of the year, also their conference opener, 26-14 over Highland. Although the opponent wasn’t one of the toughest teams in the league, Goldendale played with more confidence and looked like a team that was finally comfortable with their new offensive and defensive schemes.

Highland had moments of success in the opening drive of the game, taking the ball from their 32 yard line to the Goldendale 38 where the ball was turned over on downs. During that drive, Goldendale’s defensive front gave up a couple of big runs, but it was clear the Wolves controlled the line of scrimmage. The Scottie’s quarterb...
