Texting while driving is much deadlier than drinking

Texting and driving is a common occurrence in today’s society, but not enough people really consider the actual danger of it. It’s a growing trend not only among teens and young adults but also is often done by adults with cellular devices. A lot of people justify texting while driving by saying reading a text while driving is safer than composing or sending one; they hold the phone near the windshield “for better visibility,” they increase following distance, and they text only at a stop sign or red light. These are flimsy excuses that are totally disproved by the real world statistics of texting and driving.

1,600,000 accidents and 330,000 injuries per year are caused by texting...
