Lady Wolves stumble at La Salle, sweep Mabton in league volleyball action


Goldendale suffered its first loss of the season at the hands of La Salle, last week. The Lightning took advantage of Goldendale mistakes to win the match 23-25, 25-13, 25-21, 25-21. Sawyer Ross led Goldendale with 11 kills. Madison Holbrook and Jamie Beierle each contributed five kills and Bree Wanderscheid had 25 assists. Ocean Bryan made her presence felt at the net with three blocks and four kills.

The Lady Timberwolves were back on track at home, Thursday, against Mabton. Ross and Kirstin Twohy led the way with seven kills each in the 25-16, 25-8, 25-13 sweep. Beierle served up five aces, Cheyenne Dove had four aces and Sierra Lamping had three aces. The Wolves showed big improvement by cutting down serve-return errors from 22 against La Salle to just 10 against Mabton.

A key league match against Naches Valley will be played in Goldendale this Thursday. The Lady Timberwolves will compete at a tournament in Spokane this weekend.
