Soccer season finally under way with rotating goalies

CRASHING THE LINE: A Connell player ran into resistance when she muscled her way to the front of Goldendale’s net during a corner kick. Defending for Goldendale were Katy Wheelon (21), Britni Bischoff (8), Nadia Smith (18) and goalie Billie Jo Risheim.

Goldendale’s Lady Timberwolf soccer team finally saw action last week losing to Connell on the home field in Goldendale 10-0. The Wolves were off to a strong start in the match with a couple of rushes at the Connell end of the field, but were unable to get a shot on goal.

Connell scored their first goal four minutes into the game off the foot of Brittany Vickerman. The next goal came five minutes later on a penalty kick that ricocheted off a Goldendale defender, past goalie for the half, Billie Jo Risheim. From that point on, Goldendale was under constant pressure but showed some good middle defense from Nadia Smith and had flashes of speed from Rachel Disch and short runs by Theresa Du...
