Margaret S. Mata



Margaret went to be with the Lord on Monday September 23, 2013 surrounded by her family.

Margaret was born on August 13, 1931 in Laredo Texas. She was raised in Laredo, where she met and then married Edward Mata Sr. on August 14, 1950. Margaret was preceded in death, by her mother and father, brother Blas Solis, sister Ina Solis, and a son Luis Ruvalcaba.

Margaret is survived by her loving husband Ed Mata, children Beatriz Ruvalcaba, Jessie Gunnyon, Mike, Naomi, Ed Jr. , and Luann Mata all of Goldendale. Hilda Gunnyon of Burlington, Lupe and Steve Short of Richland, Bettie and Fred Aparicio of McMinnville, Mary and Mike Lauriano of Mt. Vernon, and Elsa and Carl Baker of The Dalles. grandchildren Maxx and Lisa Ruvalcaba, Teresa and Lyle Foster, Eddie and Ashley Mata, Christina, Tony and Veronica Aparicio, Kelly Gunnyon, Tiffany and Broc Stickly, Stacie, Krystal, Jeff and Rachel Short, Vanessa, David, and Jeremy Lauriano, Mike Jr. and Anita Mata, Leslie, Wilbur and Mandy Bishop, along with 18 great-grandchildren.

Margaret’s loves were above all, family, she also enjoyed cooking, hunting, camping, and fishing outings with family and friends. She instilled many family traditions, Christmas Eve Tamales and the Easter confetti eggs to name just a few. She made sure anyone who entered her home felt welcomed, always had something to feed you or at least a cup of coffee and a listening ear. She spent all of her days taking care of everyone, which is very apparent when you look at her family. Margaret spent her life loving the Lord and was cherished by everyone around her.

Margaret was laid to rest in the Zillah Cemetery on September 27. 2013. She will always be remembered as a quiet, peaceful woman with a heart of gold. She will be missed every day.
