Another weekend of events has just passed and I managed to get to a couple of them.

One momentous event I went to was the 40th Anniversary celebration for our Goldendale Observatory. There were a few dignitaries attending such as Senator Jim Honeyford, Klickitat County Commissioner Jim Sizemore, City Administrator Larry Bellamy, Washington State Parks officials, and local media. Newly retired Interpretive Specialist Steve Stout was in attendance as well, being honored for his 32 years of service at the Observatory. Stout told the story of how Goldendale was determined to be the location of the large telescope that was built in Vancouver. It all began with a lunch stop at a local Goldendal...
