Benefit event on Klickitat Trail draws nearly 100 entries

More than 70 people entered the half-marathon, most enjoying the 13 mile walk with perhaps a bit of running. Another 23 opted for the 5k from the bridge at Pitt to Klickitat. The event raised funds for youth centers in both towns.

Cody Barton, of Stevenson won the second running of the Lyle to Klickitat half-marathon on the Klickitat Trail on Saturday. Barton ran a close race with last year's winner, Eric Dolezal, of Vancouver. The two runners were about 50 yards apart at Pitt when Barton began to put some distance between the two runners. Barton finished the 13 mile course in an unofficial time of 1 hour, 16 minutes and 45 seconds.

The trail was cool with some intermittent, light rain in the early portion and finished under partly sunny skies. There were 76 runners entered in the half-marathon and 23 people who participated in the 5k, from the bridge at Pitt to Klickitat. Not all half-marathon runners were in a ra...
