Johnson renews certification


Tamara Johnson, a teacher of sixth grade at Goldendale Middle School, has renewed her National Board Certification through a rigorous, performance-based, peer-review process. Like Board certification in professions such as medicine and architecture, National Board Certification is the highest mark of accomplishment in teaching.

According to Johnson, "this is my 35th year at GMS." She has "weathered eight principals; survived the fire in 1986; taught in Rajneeshi portables after the fire – always have been here in sixth grade."

She has spent her entire teaching career at Goldendale Middle School, and the room she now occupies is her original room. (When the new building was completed, P...
