Sharon Yeackel


Sharon Jean Yeackel was born May 14, 1938 in Goldendale to Wilbur Fred (Deac) Yeackel and Hazel Feathers Yeackel. Sharon passed away at OHSU on Nov. 17, 2013. She spent her early life on the family ranch near Centerville; then her family moved to Glenwood where Deac owned and operated Yeackels Grocery.

Sharon graduated from Glenwood High School in 1956. She then went to nursing school in Portland. She however decided nursing was not for her and worked briefly at Montgomery Ward before taking a job with Standard Insurance Company where she worked for the next 40 years.

Sharon enjoyed traveling, sewing and bowling on a league in Portland. She also loved her cats! Sharon was also known for making doll clothes and her famous Raggedy Ann and Andy dolls.

Sharon was preceded in death by her parents, Deac and Hazel.

She is survived by her sister, Myrna Mclean and husband Doug of Yelm, WA; nieces Shelly Murray and husband Sean of Roy, WA, Kelly Auton and husband Jeff of North Pole, AK and Pamela Schilling and fiancé Cody Shipp of Goldendale. Great nephews Justin Shupe, Marcus Payne, Trevor and Cody Auton, Tate and Tanner Murray, and great nieces Kimberly and Jennifer Shupe also survive.

Graveside services were held Nov. 22, 2013 at the Centerville Cemetery.
