Cougars even records with wins over Acorns and Huskies

TIE UP: Suzanne McConville fights for the ball against Oakville. The Lyle-Wishram senior is a top rebounder for the Cougars, in spite of being the shortest person on the floor in most games.

It is a long drive from Oakville, a small town between Aberdeen and Centralia, and it was probably a longer ride back for the Acorns of Oakville High School after two crushing defeats at the hands of the Lyle-Wishram Cougars, last Friday. The boys' and girls' games were both over early with the girls winning 45-15 and the boys by 73-27.

The Lady Cougars were too quick for the Acorns, forcing 18 first half turnovers, and holding Oakville to just 2-10 shooting. Maelynn Luke got her game going in the second quarter, scoring nine points to lead the Cougars at the half.

The Acorns showed some life with eight points in the third quarter, but the Cougars kept running and outscored Oakville 27-10...
