Sentinel marks 135 years of continuous publication
One hundred and thirty five years ago this year, The Goldendale Gazette and The Klickitat Sentinel merged into a single publication. The newly combined newspaper was called The Goldendale Sentinel. Since its first publication in 1879, The Sentinel has published continually ever since. As far as we know—no doubt if we are in error, someone will correct us—that makes The Sentinel the oldest business still operating in Klickitat County and one of the oldest newspapers in the state.
The Sentinel has had only 10 different owners in that 135 years. In 2010, Leslie Geatches and I acquired the newspaper from Andy and Lynda McNab, who had owned it for one of its two longest stretches (26 years...
