Vic-torious: White Salmon native, Wild, scores two Olympic golds for Russia


In the span of four days, White Salmon’s own Vic Wild has achieved a feat he has been dreaming of since he first clipped in to a snowboard 20 years ago.

On Feb. 19, Wild, 27, took his first gold medal in the men’s Parallel Giant Slalom at the winter Olympics in Sochi, Russia. Three days later, he scooped up a second gold in the men’s Parallel Slalom event, which made its debut as an Olympic sport that day.

Before Wild’s mother, Carol Wild, departed two weeks ago to watch her son compete in the race of his life, she stated that “Vic still considers White Salmon home” in an interview with The Enterprise.
