Record walleye taken from Columbia River


John Grubenhoff, of Pasco, landed a new state record walleye on Feb. 28, while trolling the Columbia River in Wallula Lake, behind the McNary Dam. The fish weighed 20.32 pounds, was 35.5 inches long with a 22.75 inch girth. He previous record walleye was also taken from Lake Wallula.

Grubenhoff was trolling in 22 feet of water at 0.8 mph using a Rapala® J-13 lure, 6-feet behind a 2-ounce “bottom walker” weight.
