Wolf rally for split comes up short, Bears sweep 17-1, 8-6

BEARING DOWN: Reggie Sargeant started game two for Goldendale against the Ki-Be Bears.

Saturday was a great day for baseball with unseasonably mild weather and virtually no wind blowing. Everything but the outcome of the games was nearly perfect as Kiona-Benton swept the Timberwolves 17-1 and 8-6.

The game was a typical season opener with more errors than Coach Bob Dohrman wanted to see, but he was pleased overall with the play of his team. "We've got good kids here," said Dohrman. "They play with sportsmanship and they will get better."

Errors got the Timberwolves behind early in the opener. With the score 7-1 after three innings, things seemed to settle down with good defensive play on both sides. Then the dam broke as the Bears put 10 runs on the board in the sixth inni...
