Semi hits bridge, sends cab and fuel over edge

TRUCK OFF THE ROAD: The cab and wheels of this semi were over the edge of an embankment after htting the bridge over the Little Klickitat River and a utility pole (seen sagging behind the cab) near Allyn's Building Center Monday.

Alcohol and an argument led to a bad decision resulting in one man in jail and damage to the bridge across the Little Klickitat River, near Allyn's Building Center.

According to the Goldendale Police, the accident occurred at 7 p.m. on Monday when Darren Porter, 43, of Klamath Falls drove his Kenworth truck into the east side bridge railing, continued over the concrete end of the bridge, and crashed into a utility pole before coming to rest down a 12-foot embankment that leads to the river. The trailer, loaded with truck parts, remained on the road in the northbound lane. Witnesses said the truck was traveling south at 20 to 25 mph before swerving into the railing.
