To the Editor:

The recent news states that our town has received funding to bring the Mt. Adams Care Center up to code. Some people seem to think that we need a community center for various activities.

I believe that the improved building should be a homeless shelter and a hostel. There are many homeless people in and around Goldendale that would benefit from having a roof over their heads. Most homeless people receive money from DSHS and also EBT for food. Those people could pay for a space to eat, sleep, and shower. That would get them off the streets, and they wouldn’t have to sleep under the Singing Bridge. A person could be hired to manage the homeless shelter to keep things under...
