Women honored at Soroptimist awards night


Outstanding Women: Soroptimists of Goldendale recognized outstanding women in the community at their recent awards presentation. 2014 Soroptimist Awards Night was held March 20, at the Goldendale Library. Music for the evening's event featured Meagen Moody.

The Soroptimists' major service project is the Women's Opportunity Awards program. The program helps women who are the primary wage earners for their families and want to improve their marketability in the job market through more education.

Most of the applicants have faced severe hardships that prevented them from pursuing and achieving their educational and professional goals. Many are single women and are responsible for the care of others. Some are reliant on public assistance as their only source of income, many are abuse survivors.
