To the Editor:

Something that comes up from time to time is how Goldendale looks. Real estate folks call it curb appeal, the outward appearance of a particular property. Like most towns, a drive around Goldendale reveals some really nice places and others not so much. Compared to a lot of towns, Goldendale doesn’t look too bad. Granted, there are places that could stand to be tidied up a bit or others that could use a fresh coat of paint, but on average our town looks average.

Appearance is also used in relation to perception. Let’s say someone puts out a help wanted sign. It’s a behind the scenes job in the production of a product. It’s steady, year round work. They get two appli...
