Tie-breakers make the difference in tennis match with Zillah

SINGLES WIN: Jairus Christensen gave the Timberwolves a win in his number one singles match against Zillah's Beau Widner.

Jairus Christensen and the team of Ethan Hoctor and Brandon Cline went the distance on Saturday for Goldendale's only wins in an SCAC league match against Zillah. The boys lost the team score 3-2 and the girls lost 3-0.

Christensen was tabbed for the number one singles spot and took on Beau Widner. Widner won the first set 6-2 and Christensen returned the favor with a 6-3 win in the second set. The final set was close from start to finish with Christensen avoiding a tie-breaker, winning 7-5 in the final set.

Hoctor and Cline handled some hard shots from James Fernandez and Andy Zarate and won the first set 7-6 with a 7-1 tie-breaker win. The Leopard pair took the second set 6-4 before the...
