Surprising talent comes out to benefit student

TALENT ON DISPLAY: Out of more than 40 acts that performed Friday and Saturday nights, these are just a few of the many talented people who gave their time to benefit Raven Java McCandless. A hidden talent in her own right, Taylor Thornley took all these pictures.

Friday night the audience, Goldendale High School jazz band members, and Johnny Guthrie and his sound system swamped the Grange Hall at 6 p.m. to set up for the benefit Goldendale Talent Show for Raven Java McCandless. That was long before the ticket booth was ready (it normally opens at 7 p.m.), which created quite a happy chaos.

When the lights went up, a beautiful five-year-old princess Linzy Hanna stole the show with "I'm Wishing for the One I Love" from Disney's Snow White. A close second was Demetrius and the Dirty Bus Boys who joined with the GHS staff doing the Macarena in purple graduation gowns.
