Robert Walston



Robert Hood Walston passed away at the Oregon Veterans’ Home on April 17, 2014 at the age of 87.  

He was born in Kalama, Wash., on July 13, 1926 to parents Martha (Straub) and Edgar Steven Walston.

When he was a young boy, Bob moved with his family to Dufur, Oregon.  Bob enlisted in the United States Navy on Nov. 23, 1943 and was honorably discharged from military service on April 8, 1946.  He married Donna L. Lanegan in Goldendale, Wash., on May 29, 1950.

Bob owned and operated the local barbershop in Goldendale and was known by many as Bob the Barber. He was also a volunteer firefighter.  Mr. Walston loved spending time in nature hunting, fly fishing, gardening, and picking huckleberries and camping with family. He enjoyed working with and riding horses and helping the local ranchers with their stock.  

Mr. Walston was buried next to his wife, Donna, at Mountain View Cemetery in Goldendale during a private service.  

He is survived by daughter Melody (Cole) Malcolm of Goldendale; son Rusty Walston of Klamath Falls, Ore.; six grandchildren and four great-grandchildren
