Time for a community service call

Letter from the community

To the Editor:

Many times in over a decade I have shown up at Kenny Graff’s auto shop to find a note on the door that read, “Gone to make a service call.” Kenny’s service calls often included a long drive as far as Oak Flats to get a car fixed and started or somewhere in town where a senior was stranded alongside an automobile that quit running. His service calls included coming to pick up a car that needed work, driving it to his shop, and returning it when repaired because the owner couldn’t get the car to him. Service calls meant helping many youth with their demolition cars in summer so they could compete and teaching a young teen visiting Goldendale the care of his first car at no charge. The “Gone to make a service call” meant there were times Kenny stopped by a local second hand store for a cup of hot coffee, leaving a handful of dollar bills in a donation jar that helped serve his community.

Now, being treated for cancer and the long, expensive battle it brings, Kenny and his family need a service call. Please donate what you can in his behalf at Columbia Bank. It’s a service call worth making.
