Rural 7 responds with foam to smoking windmill on Dot Road


A breaker tripped in a substation connected to Harvest Wind on Dot Road at 10:30 a.m., on May 7. Upon investigation, it was found that a transformer had ruptured and was smoking. A 911 call was made and it was determined that the foam truck from Rural 7 was needed.

According to Rural 7 Fire Chief, Tony Browning, “We were called in to assist District’s 2 and 9. We use special foam that can suffocate fire in a transformer.” Fire crews stood by to address any wildfire threat, and infrared cameras were used to verify the temperature after the foam was applied.
