Carpenter and Cloud in surprise wins at Bickleton


It was no big surprise that Chance Carpenter won the 400 meters at the Greater Columbia Gorge league championship meet in Bickleton, Friday. But, the Cougar runner was only third best on the Lyle-Wishram team in the 100 meters. Jacob Zeigler was the class of the field with a time of 11.87 this year and Alex Pabon had a 12.03. Carpenter didn’t even run his best time on Friday, just 12.59, but it was enough to beat Pabon with a lean by 0.02 seconds for the win. Zeigler did not enter the race.
