Rodeo Returns

File photo

This is a big weekend for rodeo fans. About every seven years, Fathers' Day falls on the second Sunday of June, which means the Alderdale Pioneer Picnic and Rodeo and Ketchum Kalf Rodeo fall on the same weekend. Both rodeos start public performances at 1 p.m. on June 14 and June 15. Each rodeo is well established with its own special characteristics. The Ketchum Kalf Rodeo, held outside Glenwood, has a parade on Sunday at 11 a.m. and the Alderdale Rodeo, held in Cleveland, outside Bickleton, has its carousel. Both are action packed with rodeo events, like the bull riding shown above at the Ketchum Kalf Rodeo.
