50 Years Ago - June 18, 1964

• While attending the State Grange Convention at Wenatchee last week, Clarence Kelley lost his truck Wednesday when his boy and hired man were using it to haul fencing material on his ranch. The men got out to pick up a roll of wire and set the emergency brake; however, it failed to hold and the truck rolled down into the canyon, turning over numerous times before finally coming to rest on the bench below. The truck, a 1951 GMC was almost a total loss, with the possibility of salvaging a few parts.
