Shephard wins women's division of Goldenman for third straight year

UNBEATABLE: Elizabeth Shephard was solid in the swim at the start of the triathlon. Shepard, of Yakima, won the women's division for the third straight year.

The Goldenman Triathlon was held in Goldendale last Saturday. The course and date changed from the two previous years, but one thing that did not change is the winner of the women's division. Elizabeth Shephard, of Yakima, made it three in a row by beating her competition in each phase of competition in the third running of the event.

Shephard, who is a Wildland Fire Public Information Officer completed the swim, bike ride and run in 1 hour, 32 minutes and 58 seconds. Runner-up, Leslie Hiebert, of Goldendale had a time of 2:01.49. Third went to Debi Svendsen, of Goldendale with a time of 2:16.49.
