Floyd Larson



April 23, 1921 – June 17, 2014

Floyd Larson, 93, of Hillsboro, passed away Tuesday, June 17, 2014, with his family by his side.

He was born to the late Henry and Adeline Larson in Rural Wibaux, Montana. Floyd grew up farming and moved many times. He was honorably discharged from the Navy after 3-1/2 years of service. He went to school and became a certified airplane mechanic and worked at different airports until he retired in Farmington, New Mexico. After retiring he settled down in Goldendale, Wash., where he lived until 2012. He planted hundreds of trees there and kept a small garden. His passion for farming, gardening, trees, motorcycles and educating himself by reading and studying kept him busy. He rode his Honda motorcycle until the age of 90. He was active in the community and had many friends.

Floyd is preceded in death by his sisters Inga Hertwig, Cleo Griffith, and brother Cliff Larson.

He is survived by his sister Edna Solie of Redmond Ore .; best friend/ ex-wife Phyllis Larson of Centralia, Wash .; children Christine Sturm of Damascus, Barbara McCleary of Centralia, Walter Larson of Centralia, Shelley Viner of Hillsboro; 11 grandchildren; 16 great-grandchildren, many cousins, nieces and nephews.

A Celebration of Life was held in Kelso, July 13, 2014.
