Local volunteers provide assistance to Cycle Oregon participants


Before the sun came up Sunday morning, Cycle Oregon invaded the park for their club’s first stop on their ‘The Dalles to Glenwood’ tour. Their volunteers, as well as those from OLESS, set up a ‘pit stop’ to provide high energy drinks and snacks, medical aide if needed, and bicycle repair to aid them on their journey. I have never seen so many bicycles in one place, at one time, in my life. In talking to some of the bikers and volunteers I found that the cutoff for this trip was 2000 entries, with more being turned down. They were from all points of the U.S. and the world and what surprised me the most was the ages; which one biker stated that the overall average was 51. I interv...
