Relayers For Life support fight against cancer

ON THE MARCH: Walkers for Relay For Life march along the Goldendale High School track Saturday to launch the event.

Relay For Life participants cheered and clapped Saturday night as cancer survivors walked the opening lap around the track. Caregivers walked with cancer survivors for the second lap, and then the teams walked together. Throughout the night teams took turns walking around the track to represent the fact that cancer never sleeps.

Each of the 16 hours of the event (except for special ceremony hours) had a movie theme in which participants dressed in different costumes to represent that hour's theme. One of the more popular ones was from 1 a.m. to 2 a.m., featuring a '50s theme and the movie Grease. An unscheduled surprise was watching the Jim Smith family dance and sing together during this...
