Wapato Wolves shutout GHS in soccer opener


Goldendale had a tough opponent in their opener against Wapato last Thursday. It turned out to be a showcase game for Wapato’s Nena Ariza who scored three goals in the first half and two in the second for a 9-0 win.

This being the first game of the year and for some of Goldendale’s players, the first soccer game outside of AYSO, Coach Rick Johnson said it took awhile for the players to adjust to the fast pace. He was pleased with their improved performance in the second half. Goldendale goalie Neda Maghasadi had 15 saves on the day while Goldendale put six shots on goal. The Lady Timberwolves had some opportunities off corner kicks but were unable to convert.
