Kubler earns Eagle Scout award

Eric Kubler earns Eagle Scout award

Eric A. Kubler, 18, grandson of the late Dr. Howard E. Kubler and Elaine Kubler, received his Eagle Scout award  on May 18,  in Poway, Calif.

Eric has been in Scouting since he was old enough to be a Cub Scout.  He has accumulated many badges through diligent work.  His father, Bruce E. Kubler, GHS graduate of 1975, has always been at his side helping Eric, and assisting with the leadership of the Poway Boy Scout troop.

Bruce and his wife, Janine Sarti-Kubler have lived in Poway for more than six years where Janine is the leader of the legal department at the local hospital, Pomerado, and Bruce is a stay-at-home dad. Each year they also have a foreign exchange student from Europe.

Eric graduated from Poway High School in June and in the fall will start classes at UC Riverside, North of Poway in Riverside Calif.

Needless to say, Elaine Kubler is very proud of her grandson.  Eric's Eagle project was to help residents of a senior home sign up for Vial, a project to help senior citizens document their information for emergency situations.  Eric went to a nursing home and with a crew of scouts to help him, helped senior citizens fill out forms to help emergency crews to assist them in a crisis.  They soon had the whole place signed up.
