Goldendale presses Wahluke in 5-2 soccer loss at Mattawa


The final score was Wahluke 5 Goldendale 2, but for Rick Johnson, Goldendale’s soccer coach, it marked a huge improvement very early in the season. The goals were the Lady Timberwolves’ first scores of the year and holding the Warriors to five goals was a plus.

The Warriors’ Idaniz Cruz had a huge opening half, scoring three goals for Wahluke, the first coming at the 3-minute mark, then two more around mid-way through the period.

Cheyenne Smith got the Wolves on the board early in the second half with a direct kick following a foul. The Warriors scored two more times in the second half.
