Spaghetti dinner Oct. 17 to raise funds for Twin Bridges Museum

First off…It has been brought to my attention that I inadvertently omitted a person when I was handing out kudos a couple weeks ago about the sign on the museum. Barbara Sexton purchased and donated the letters spelling out ‘museum’, which were later painted and positioned on the building. As the kids would say now days... my bad.

The Twin Bridges Historical Museum is having a Spaghetti Feed Fundraiser on Oct. 17, from 5 p.m. to 8 p.m. at the Lions Club. For only $5 each plate will offer spaghetti, salad and garlic bread. They would appreciate everyone reading this to contact their family and friends that might not receive the newspaper to make sure that a wide coverage will make the dinner a success. The proceeds go to the betterment of the museum and its displays. The board also wishes to remind everyone that we are always happy to accept personal histories as well as items to display and share each family member’s past lifestyles, long before the electronic world became fashionable.

At last Monday’s Community Council meeting this subject arose: “What can we do to get residents to clean up their property and make Lyle healthier and a little more pleasant to the eye?” A discussion followed with some suggesting filing complains to the powers-that-be, while others shared that perhaps simply asking the owner if they are in need of help to eliminate the problem. Either position can escalate into a hostile situation, if not handled in a friendly, caring manner, so if you proceed with the latter, make sure you choose your words wisely.

After meeting with fellow Samaritan Purse Project volunteers Saturday, I came away with the feeling that I am doing the right thing; so, God willing, I will continue to do so. The garments that I’ve made for children all over the world (with the help of so many of you by donating fabric, notions and finances), is a great way to do a little Christian ministry. So, on behalf of those children receiving a shoe box this year; Thank you donors, and may God bless.

Back to the subject of great food…remember, the famous Lions Club First Saturday Breakfast is coming this week. It is widely known what a great meal one gets for so little a price. And besides… all your friends will be there.
