BATTLE FOR THE HOUSE SEAT: Republican incumbent Jaime Herrera Beutler is seeking another term.

Rep. Jaime Herrera Beutler won't be railroaded on an issue.

"Rail traffic is up and down the Gorge and really up and down I-5," she says. "It intersects my entire district, and their safety is the number one priority."

Herrera Beutler says one of the main reasons she ran for office in the first place-she's seeking reelection this November-was to increase economic opportunities in the region. "We were in double digits on unemployment," she recalls. "It's still not great but it's going the right direction."
