State Democrats state their position on three initiatives


The Washington State Democrats announced their endorsements for initiatives on the Nov. 4 ballot.

The group says “Yes” on Initiative 594 (approved at the State Central Committee meeting on Sept. 21, 2013), one of the two gun related initiatives. I-594 would strengthen background checks for the purchase of guns.

They say “No” on Initiative 591 (approved at the State Convention on June 21, 2014), the other gun initiative generally written to enhance gun rights. I-591 would prohibit government agencies from requiring background checks on firearm recipients unless a uniform national standard is required.
