50 Years Ago - October 22, 1964

The Grand Champion steer of the P. I. shown by Brent Palmer, 12, Centerville, was turned over to its new owner, Wm. Boonisar, manager of the Sheraton Motor Inn. The purchase price was $5 per pound which was one of the highest in recent years. Brent has the record of being one of the youngest 4-H members ever to win the coveted grand championship ribbon. Other sales by Klickitat County 4-H members were: Joe Crocker, reserve 4-H Hereford, $31; Brent Palmer, Shorthorn steer, $28; Gail Cosner, Angus steer, $26.50; Rusty Brack, crossbred lambs, 35 cents for reserve 4-H champion and 23 cents for his second lamb.
