County stacks up Commission applications

Klickitat County land use applications keep stacking up at the Columbia River Gorge Commission, and the problem is likely to get worse before it gets better.

Unlike the other five counties with land in the Columbia River Gorge National Scenic Area, Klickitat County did not add scenic area provisions to its land use ordinances when the National Scenic Area Act was passed in 1986. As a result, land use applications for the Scenic Area go directly to the Gorge Commission staff for processing.
